The Online Platform for CSP was developed with the Projeto Energia Heliotérmica (Concentrating Solar Power Project) which is the result of the cooperation between the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and the German Cooperation for Sustainable Development through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the KfW Development Bank.
In this cooperation project, MCTI and GIZ create the conditions for the application and dissemination of CSP technologies in Brazil. The dissemination of knowledge about the solar thermal technology reflects one of the main activities of the project. Therefore, cooperation has been established with the the Brazilian Institute for Information in Science and Technology (IBICT), focusing on providing updated information on solar thermal technology and its applications in Brazil.
The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) has the strategic role of management of National Policies for Science, Technology and Innovation. Its main responsibilities are: National policy of scientific, technological and innovation research; Planning, coordination, supervision and control of the activities of science and technology; IT development policy and automation; Biosafety policy; Space policy; Nuclear policy; and Control the exportation of goods and services.
MCTI was created for boosting the Brazilian economy, supporting those with future sectors, preparing Brazil for the economy of knowledge and information, assisting the transition to a green and creative economy and contributing to productive inclusion. In addition, it is responsible for promoting the improvement of the legal framework and the integration of different to STI support instruments available in the country.
Created by presidential decree in 1954, the Brazilian Institute of Bibliography and Documentation (IBBD) became the Brazilian Institute of Information Science and Technology (IBICT) in 1976. The Institute's mission is to promote competence, development of resources, and information infrastructure in science and technology for the production, socialization and integration of scientific and technological knowledge. IBICT develops relevant research projects in information science and integrates the organizational structure of research institutions of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI).
Working efficiently, effectively and in true partnerships, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH cooperates with people and societies in developing, emerging and industrial countries worldwide to contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of societies and to build a more sustainable future. As a federal public company, GIZ supports the Federal Government of Germany in achieving their goals in the area of international cooperation.
Brazil and Germany together face global challenges such as preserving biodiversity and combating climate change. In Brazil, the German cooperation for sustainable development operates in two main areas: Protection and Sustainable Management of Tropical Forests, and Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency.
